Things are hotting up this week on the Orcs Must Die! Twitch channel. This week there is a new Thursday stream titled “Fortress Cup 2014”. Following North America’s recent loss to Germany in the World Cup, Robot Entertainment are attempting to redeem themselves by battling with Germany once again, challenging Gameforge to an OMDU face off!
Its all happening this week on the Orcs Must Die! Twitch channel on Thursday 3rd July at 2pm CDT. For conversion to your timezone check out our stream page.
Today is the last day for EU peeps to be in with a chance of winning one of 10 alpha access codes. Just head over to our competition page to enter. Winners will be announced tomorrow so stay tuned and good luck everyone!
Special event this week!
In other news this week marks a special event. This weeks Robot Entertainment stream will be taking place Tuesday night at the later time of 8PM to 10PM CST (convert to your timezone). This week however will not be featuring a certain OMDU hero, instead it will be a two hour long stream called “Orcs After Dark” and it is jammed packed with stuff. First and foremost there will be a ton of Robot developers online ready to play matches with alpha players with some of these games being shown on the twitch stream. In addition to this there will also be interviews with some of the developers talking about the studio and Orcs Must Die! development.
Get access
The best way to enjoy Orcs After Dark this Tuesday is to get access to the alpha. Luckily we have some great news on that front too. As of right now anyone purchasing the War Mage level founder pack at www.orcsmustdie.com gets instant alpha access! Thats right, get in the game right now and be ready for Tuesdays event.
This instant access lasts from now right up until the stream for North American players.
Playing means prizes!
Five random players will be chosen from the list of everyone that plays at least one match on Tuesday between 8 and 10pm. These five winners will get a special OMD prize pack including shirts and comics! How about that! Even more reason to make sure you a registered and ready to play Tuesday evening.
There will also be alpha access codes given away on the stream as well.
Everyone that plays and completes a match during the “Orcs After Dark” event will get an email next week with an extra Alpha Access Friend Code. You’ll be able to share it with one of your friends and they can start playing the game with you immediately.

Tonight’s official OMDU stream featured the ranged support hero Ivy. Ivy is one of the free to play characters that will be available at launch. You can catch Robot’s Mastermind (Justin Moe) playing as Ivy in tonights stream which you can catch up on below.
There is also the community stream hosted by Nananea taking place on Thursday. Be sure to check that out to see more of Ivy! Not only that, but Taroth is also streaming Ivy and Stinkeye gameplay on Wednesday (US) and Thursday (GMT).
Following on from the War Mage the next official OMDU stream from Robot Entertainment lets the Sorceress take centre stage. The stream taking place tomorrow at 2PM ET (convert to your timezone) will show us some of the unique skills the Sorceress has to offer for Unchained. You’ll have to watch to find out – but if you miss out don’t worry, REF will be hear for the post stream summary plus all streams are re-playable on the Orcs Must Die twitch page.
Speaking of streams – did you catch Juicebags stream earlier today? It was a whole lot of fun. Be sure to catch the replay of that which will be available on Juicebags YouTube channel shortly.
Those twitching for more OMDU streaming should prepare themselves for Nananea’s Orcs Must Die! Unchained Community Stream taking place in just under an hours time. The stream will be focussing on the War Mage gameplay.

Many fans joined SixOkay, Nananea and a number of bots in todays “The War Mage” stream. Two great games were played showing all of the War Mage’s capabilities who was expertly played by Mastermind (Justin Moe). If you missed out on the stream be sure to replay the stream on the Twitch channel. Its always a good idea to catch the stream live where you can as there is plenty of chat Q&A that goes on. On this occasion designer Jerome “Bugs911” Jones was in the chat helping to answer fan questions.
So what did we learn about the War Mage in this stream? Lets dig into the details:
- The War Mage brings his trusty crossbow into the action as in previous OMD games. The left click shoots energy while the right click allows him to stun others with a reasonable area of effect.
- His primary ability is called “Trust Me” which protects friendly units against traps allowing them to pass through enemy traps safely. Meanwhile it also affects enemy units who become more vulnerable to friendly traps.
- The secondary ability is used to target other heroes or minions and damage done to the War Mage will instead be transferred to the targeted unit. Sneaky.
- His stats make him a great choice for defending.
- Other than that he is the same old trusty War Mage, complete with witty remarks!
